If you’ve read any of our previous postings about holiday gift sets, then you know the inspiration for this year’s Tarte collection comes from Paris. So, to get into the Parisian spirit, I decide to pour myself a glass of wine to accompany my review. It may be an Argentinean Malbec, but it still accomplishes the same oui, oui effect.

And I lift my glass in reverence to the Tarte Away Oui Go Collection, which is exclusive to Ulta and sells for $48. It is a gorgeous, well thought out collection, which delivers in so many, many ways. The collection includes, 16 French-inspired Amazonian clay eyeshadows, 4 Amazonian clay 12-hour blushes, 3 deluxe maracuja lipglosses, 1 deluxe lights, camera, lashes 4-in-1 mascara, and 1 portable collector’s compact all packaged in a tres chic box with gold foil accents.

“Take the romantic adventure of a lifetime with this interchangeable collector’s set overflowing with limited-edition essentials. Just swap the removable palettes into the plush, luxe compact and take your glamour on-the-go.”

Like all of Tarte’s products, this set is free of parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulftate, and gluten.

Collector’s Compact

One of the coolest and most unique features of Away Oui Go is the collector’s compact, which allows you to carry one of the palettes from the box with you on the go. The compact, with its adorable pearl accented, mint green quilted cover, also features a nice sized mirror for easy application.

LIpglosses and Mascara

As mentioned above, Away Oui Go comes with 3 deluxe maracuja lipglosses in Nice, Cannes, and Paris. These are all pretty nude colors, with varying degrees of brightness.

  • Nice is a mauvy peach
  • Cannes is a shimmery pink with flecks of gold glitter
  • Paris is a creamy berry

All three glosses have a minty scent to them, very reminiscent of a candy cane, and feel a little tingly on the lips. I found them very pigmented, moisturizing, and not too tacky. My one complaint is with the gloss applicator, as the brush is very hard and stiff, making application difficult and a tad painful. I would probably recommended applying the gloss to the back of your hand and then using a brush to transfer it to your lips.

I have been dying to try Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara, and am so glad this collection included it. While I really liked the formula and the staying power, I really didn’t notice an improvement in the volume of my lashes. My lashes looked noticeably longer, but not noticeably thicker. Regardless, I really enjoyed the formula and how lusciously long my eyelashes looked.

Palettes

In addition to the glosses, mascara and compact, Away Oui Go also includes four removable palettes each containing a blush and four French-inspired eyeshadows. The colors in each palette are more on the nude, natural side, with a few notable exceptions. Each palette also features at least one shimmer or metallic eyeshadow, along with matte shades.

Envisioned

The top right palette features a blush in Envisioned, and eyeshadows macarons for you, champagne & chocolate, kisses under the Arc, and art in Montmarte. Envisioned is the only blush in the collection that has a shimmer to it. This shimmer helps to give a nice natural peachy glow to the skin.

  • Macarons for you is a light matte mauve, which can be worn all over the eye
  • Champagnee & chocolat is a light beigy shimmer with flecks of pink glitter
  • Kisses Under the Arc is a pink shimmer with gold and pink flecks of glitter
  • Art in Montmarte is a bronze shimmer with flecks of gold and pink glitter

Limitless

The top left palette features Limitless blush, and four eyeshadows in Champs-Elysees shopping, stargazing on the Seine, Eiffel Tower engagement, and secret soiree. This was one of my favorite palettes in the group. I just loved the colors and how they made my blue eyes pop. What girl doesn’t want her eyes to sparkle and shine like the Eiffel Tower at night?

Like all the blushes in this collection, Limitless also provides a natural glow to the skin with its peachy-pink color.

  • Champs-Elysees Shopping, with its light beige matte color, is a great all over eye shadow
  • stargazing on the Seine adds a bit of sparkle with its shimmer gold/bronze color with flecks of glitter
  • Eiffel Tower engagement is a gorgeous taupey matte with gray undertones, and a hint of glitter
  • secret soiree is a beautiful shimmery plum with flecks of pink, green, and gold glitter

Irresistible

The third palette in the group features a blush in Irresistible, and four eyeshadows in private chateau, café for crème brulee, tea for two, and marvel at the Mona Lisa. My mom kindly let me use her arm to swatch, as my arm was turning red for all the wiping off of swatches, and because her skin tone helped bring out the light colors of this palette better than my pale tone. After trying out looks with this palette, I think it is best suited for anyone with brown, hazel or green eyes. The colors really bring out any flecks of brown or green you might have.

Irresistible is a lovely light pink blush that provides a subtle glow and warmth to the skin. I can definitely see why so many people love Tarte blushes. There is just something truly unique about the colors and the way they look on your skin.

  • Private chateau, with its light grey/vanilla color, is an ideal all over shadow
  • café for crème brulee is a matte brown with warm undertones
  • Tea for two is a rich shimmery brown with flecks of gold glitter
  • marvel at the Mona Lisa embodies the dark, chocolate brown matte colors of the painting itself.

Intrigue

Last, but definitely not least is my other favorite palette of the group. It features the blush Intrigue, and the eyeshadows, snow angels in the parc, navigating the Metro, midnight stroll, and liason at the Louvre. Don’t the names just make you want to hop on a flight to Paris right now for a fun adventure?

Intrigue is probably the darkest blush out of all the blushes, with its medium pink color with hints of brown undertones. It also provides a nice flush to the skin, but you could build it up for a more intense burst of cheek color.

  • Snow angels is a striking light shimmering gold or champagne, great for all over the eye, or for adding a pop of shimmer to the inner corner
  • Navigating the Metro is a brown shimmer with flecks of multicolored glitter
  • midnight stroll is a rich plum with hints of purple/pink glitter
  • liaison at the Louvre adds depth, thanks to its dark matte purplish brown color

Bottom line: The Away Oui Go Palette and Collector’s Set is well worth the $48 cost. Great for makeup newbies or makeup junkies, this collection allows you to create so many different looks at home or on-the-go. While the box might be a bit bulky for storage, the travel compact makes this one of the most unique collections available, and well worth the storage problem.
