Swapdom

Have you heard about Swapdom? It is an online swapping community that just launched. It uses an algorithm to organize multi-way swaps, ensuring everyone gets a fair exchange.

Users simply request items they love, tell Swapdom what they would offer in exchange, and then sit back and let Swapdom organize a multi­person swap for them.

Often times what happens in swaps is that someone wants an item of yours, but does not have anything that interests you, so no swap happens. But what if a third person had an item you liked and that person wanted an item from the first person who initiated a swap with you? Getting confused? That is where Swapdom comes in. They organize the swap for you and everyone gets something they like! Instead of no swap happening, three items found new loving homes. It sounds pretty cool.

The site is still in private-beta, but I was invited to try it out and am extending that invitation to you. It could not have come at a better time. I am about to embark on a major closet clean out. My style has evolved a bit over the years. There are items taking up precious space in my closet that really should be passed on to someone who will give them the life they deserve – outside of the closet.

Swapping is such a great way to refresh your wardrobe with minimal investment. Just the cost of shipping gets you a whole new look! Plus, it keeps clothing out of the waste stream. Americans throw away a ridiculous amount of clothing. 11.1 MILLION tons a year!!! That boggles my mind.

People have just begun to sign up and upload swap items, but already I see a few things I am interested in. I added a few things of my own, too.
