1) I don’t know how this fact has escaped me, being the relentless online shopper that I am: Net-a-Porter have a beauty section! Brands include the amazing Charlotte Tilbury, By Terry, and the most recent addition, Burberry. I have to admit to being rather worried about this new discovery; Net-a-Porter and I already have a very dangerous relationship going on. Not quite as dangerous as The Outnet affair, but close. If The Outnet ever started doing discounted high-end beauty then we’d all be done for, I should think. It’s just far too easy to “pop one more thing in the basket”. Net-a-Porter Beauty

2) I did a little feature with my Mum for Hush’s Mother’s Day newsletter and now my Mum is as addicted to browsing their website as I am! When she visited last week we spent ages going through every section, looking at all of the pictures of the jumpers and cotton basics and little summery dresses. There’s just something about the simplicity of Hush and how they put their outfits together that makes everything ridiculously appealing. I think that half my wardrobe is probably Hush by now! You can see our little “Mum and Daughter” feature here – we had to style up little outfits for each other. I was really impressed with what my Mum came up with! Hush-UK.com

3) Triumph lingerie have launched their 2014 Women in Making campaign; a campaign that celebrates women in creative businesses and offers the chance for one aspiring creative to win a £10,000 prize and a year’s worth of business mentoring. The mentoring comes from some of the most successful names in the industry, the “Influencer Makers”; fashion designer Roksanda Ilincic, shoe designer Sophia Webster, Founder of Nails Inc, Thea Green, Fenwick’s Womenswear and Lingeris Buyer Georgina Coulter and the winner of the 2013 Women in Making bursary fund, Lizzie McQuade. You can’t really put a price on that kind of mentoring, can you? If you have an inspirational business idea that’s creative and exciting then please do head over to the Triumph website and set up a social profile; after that you can upload examples of your work and proposed business plans and submit it to be judged. It’s always really scary getting your work out there, but please do it if you have a great idea – sometimes you just have to take the plunge! Last year’s winner, milliner Lizzie McQuade, says that wining the prize completely changed her life. You can read more on that and find all of the finer details on the website here.

4) Weekly menagerie report: both animals doing well. Cat has slept for approximately 98% of the time, dog spent most of his week finding ways to test my patience. He also rolled in something unidentifiable, the smell of which could only be described as “death”. Follow @dexterandthebear for more pics and statues updates, if you’re into talking pets and all that nonsense.
