Sensitive Skin FTW

*HELLO, DOLLFACE!*

So, there’s a difference between being doll-faced and possessing the literal face of a doll because you can’t put anything on it without it getting severed. Hormones, stress, free radicals, sun damage, bad food that you eat even though your body is being poisoned by it- all of these are no good for us dollies. But I have, along the way, found a few secrets that help to rectify baby-faces and keep out toxins. I was kind of like Bubble Boy and now I can roam the earth like that freed, crying elephant. I don’t love comparing myself to an elephant and I probably won’t do that again, for future notice.

1. Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Facial Cleanser:

This soap-free cream cleanser is clinically proven to moisturize sensitive skin while gently cleansing away dirt, oil and make-up without over drying or causing redness. Distinctly formulated with softening Cotton Extract that can help sustain moisture which can help shield skin from potential irritants such as harsh soaps or face washes, it also moisturizes with Rice Extract and soothes with Aloe. Great for daily use- sometimes I use it a couple of times a day during this blistering feverish summer. It’ Soap Free, Fragrance Free, Paraben Free and Hypoallergenic. Formulated with cleansing Quillaja and Yucca Extracts. Allergy Tested and Dermatologist Tested. Price point: drug-store friendly!

2. REN Rosa Centifolia™ Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser:

A deep cleansing yet gentle exfoliator, formulated with microbeads of jojoba oil, to leave skin feeling purified, invigorated, and smoothed. This Exfoliating Cleanser works in two phases to keep skin feeling smooth and invigorated. Initially, it cleanses the skin with exfoliating beads made from jojoba wax. The wax microbeads gently lift and exfoliate dead skin cells and other pollutants. Secondly, the wax melts to indicate that the exfoliation phase is finished. The melted jojoba wax then deeply hydrates to firm and plump up the skin. Gentle enough for all skin types, skin is left soft, hydrated, and healthy-looking. Made without Parabens, Sulfates or Phthalates. Definitely the best exfoliant for the face I’ve ever used. Price point: moderate. Available from Sephora.

3. Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation:

A long-lasting foundation powered by Amazonian clay that gives flawless coverage with a long-wearing, skin-perfecting formula with UVA/UVB SPF 15. It’s full coverage with a weightless texture. With a broad range of shades available and a supremely blendable and buildable formula, everyone can achieve skin that looks healthy and natural. It always leaves my face looking refreshed and glowing. Formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, or Triclosan. Reduces the appearance of pores, discolorations, and imperfections and ensures a perfectly flawless complexion every time. Sometimes if I want a fuller coverage for a night look, I’ll wear this under a more potent foundation.

4. Laura Mercier Mineral Powder:

A finely milled powder composed completely of natural elements with 15 active amino acids to promote radiant skin, diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It leaves a radiant sheen, doesn’t flash back in photos, protects with great sun protection and is light enough yet still gives full coverage. A fancy dermatologist in West Hollywood recommended Laura Mercier’s products to me when I was having horrible breakouts and said she swears by them. Blows Bare Minerals out of the ballpark. It covers all the unwanted spots but is incredibly natural!

Those are my guardian angels that have honestly transformed the way my skin looks and breathes. If you have any suggestions of your own, please leave them in the comments section!
