Essie Spring 2014 Collection - Swatches and Review

Essie's spring collection last year was probably one of my favourite nail polish collections ever and after receiving it I have found my self using many of the polishes from that collection over and over again. So I was really impatiently expecting to get my hands on this year's spring collection and I was so so happy when I finally got this! L'Oreal Finland send me the whole collection for review and even before doing these swatches I just had to play with the polishes a bit, so I already did a manicure with the namesake of this collection, Hide & Go Chic. I also shared the manicure with you guys, so if you haven't seen it already, be sure to check out this post.

But finally today I have all six polishes from this collection to show you!

Fashion Playground was probably the polish from this collection that I was expecting the most, you know I love these minty colors! These type of pale minty ones are not the easiest ones to apply, but the wide brush made the application doable. I used three thin coats here with base and top coat here, and doing thin coats instead of thick ones made the application easier too. This polish has that gorgeous silver shimmer in it that is typical for quite a few of Essie polishes and it's also the type of shimmer I really love! However, the color of this polish is quite light which means that the shimmer doesn't really show on nail too much, but it's still there and occasionally it flashes when it catches the light. Gorgeous!

Hide & Go Chic is a gorgeous azure blue which to me is clearly bordering to teal. I had somehow overlooked this polish completely but as soon as I saw it live I know I would like it and after I put it on my nails I was in love! This applies like a dream, this could even be one-coater if you apply it carefully. I don't own anything quite like this one, so this is really unique to me! I have two coats here without any base or top coat.

Romper Room is pale petal pink creme and I wasn't really expecting too much from this one because I thought it would be once again the type of pink that wouldn't suit my skintone at all. But to my great surprise, this actually suits me and I finally have a soft petal pink that I can use!!
I loooove the pink from last spring collection, Go Ginza, but this Romper Room is totally different type of pink compared to that one and I have really been missing this type of pink in my collection since pretty much every single one that I have tried has been too warm toned for my skin. With this one you have to work a bit to get it apply nicely, but three thin coats and a good wait time between the coats makes the job a lot easier. Since the color is really perfect for me, I'm willing to give in a bit with the formula.

Spin The Bottle is a neutral nude creme with pinkish tints in the base. This isn't probably the best nude color for me, but still it looked really good. I used three coats here with base and top coat. This was fairly easy one to work with, though to me this was just a tad thick, but it's nothing that a drop or two of nail thinner wouldn't fix.

Style Hunter is really vivid carmine red hue with formula that seems to be a mix of creme and jelly. This is really pigmented so you'll need just two coats for full coverage and that's exactly what I did here (no base or top coat). The polish is very glossy by itself and the color is incredibly vivid.

Truth Or Flare is a beautiful vintage denim blue color, which to me is quite unique color! Unfortunately I had some problems with the formula. This is also a mix between regular creme and a jelly, but unlike Style Hunter, this didn't have too great pigmentation. I needed three coats to make it opaque and the coats were on the thicker side. This unfortunately meant that I ended up with some bubbles, but that might of course be just because I wasn't patient enough between coats. I applied a top coat which helped with the bubble problem.

Essie has once again made quite gorgeous collection and I have to say that I really liked all the colors in this collection, though Truth Or Flare wasn't really too big of a hit for me because of my application issues. My favourite one has to be the namesake polish of this collection, Hide & Go Chic, it's just so gorgeous color and the formula was perfect! I'm sure I'll be using Fashion Playground and Romper room quite a lot too. I also loved the vivid Style Hunter but the nude Spin In Bottle wasn't the perfect match for me, though surely I will also have use for both of them too.

Which one of these Essie spring polishes is your favourite?

Tänään esittelyssä ovat siis Essien uuden kevätkokoelman kaikki kuusi lakkaa, jotka sain testiin blogia varten L'Orealilta. Odotin näitä lakkoja kovasti, sillä Essien viime keväinen kokoelma on varmasti yksi suosikkikokoelmistani ikinä, eikä näidenkään lakkojen kanssa tarvinnut kyllä pettyä.
Mikä näistä keväisistä lakoista on teidän suosikkinne?

*Lakat on saatu arvioitaviksi.
