It's often the everyday people that make our adventures memorable. Their stories, faces, laughter and presence bring emotion to the streets and warmth to our memories.

When it comes to city getaways, people generally want to see the architectural sights. We are admittedly quite awful at seeking out the celebrated sights of a city! But that is because to us, no city can be enjoyed without connecting with its everyday people on some level. Language barriers don't matter that much, we are all human and things like a smile or a small attempt to communicate with warmth brings us together and somehow that can be greatly fulfilling.

We highly recommend the Mercado do Bolhão to anyone visiting Porto. The stalls seem to be run by a bunch of hardy women who bring charisma to the market. Such a great place to while away some time.
