This past winter I got to work on a new series for TruTV called Motor City Masters, a reality competition series to find the next great car designer. It was certainly a world that’s far from my usual styling projects, but that’s what made it so awesome. I was in charge of dressing all the judges, including our two permanent mentors: editor-in-chief of Automobile magazine (and avid hat collector) Jean Jennings, and movie car designer Harald Belker (yep – he’s designed cars for Iron Man, Batman, Spiderman, Transformers, etc), along with a slew of awesome celebrity guest judges. You should check out the show which premiers tomorrow! There’s a lot of amazing talent and passion amongst the contestants – I was continuously blown away at what they would pull together in such a short amount of time. Best of all, I was really into the fashion inspiration I got from working on the show. Lots of color blocking with black, white, and primary colors as well as a few checkered flag patterns thrown in from time to time, which has continued to show up in my own wardrobe since working on the show.
