L to R = My Heart Keeps Skipping – All I see Is You – Mr. Spade – Miss Fortune – Heart Stew Flu

My Heart Keeps Skipping
This polish is a Cool Fuchsia Pink with a flash of Ultra-Violet micro-sparkles. Use 2-3 coats alone or layer one coat over a solid colored base for a peek-a-boo effect. Seal with a top coat for the most shine and a glassy surface.
(shown in 2 coats)

This is a sheer magenta pink in one coat, but in the second it becomes brighter and the blue-violet micro-sparkles give it a strong blue-violet iridescence. It looks best layered on top of a bright pink, purple or black polish since it’s on the sheer side. It’s a nice formula but you may already own a color like this in your polish collection.

All I See is You
This polish is a Purple chrome with a flash of Blue micro-sparkles. Use 2-3 coats alone, or layer one coat over a solid colored base for a peek-a-boo effect. Seal with a top coat for the most shine and a glassy surface.
(shown in 2 coats)

This is a sheer grape purple in one coat, but once you apply the second coat it’s a bright grape with blue-violet iridescence. It also is great layered over black, which really makes the blue iridescence stand out. I prefer it layered over black.

Mr. Spade
Mr. Spade is a super-loaded explosion of purple & chocolate brown glitters (metallic and holographic) in a transparent base, infused with a little bit of luck by way of plum-purple spade shaped glitters! Use alone with 2-3 coats or on top of a base color. Seal with a glassy topcoat for extra sparkle and shine.
(shown in 1 coat, though I did fish to get a 2nd spade out)

I’m a sucker for unique glitter top coats and I love the purple spades in this one! Plus, all the different sized holographic glitter is gorgeous. You do have to fish a bit to get the spades out, but it’s worth it.

Miss Fortune
Miss Fortune is a super-loaded explosion of gold and copper glitters (metallic and holographic) in a transparent base, infused with a little bit of luck by way of holographic gold stars! Use alone with 2-3 coats or on top of a base color. Seal with a glassy topcoat for extra sparkle and shine.
(shown in 1 coat)

This is a gorgeous gold glitter top coat! The stars came out easily and didn’t have to be fished in this one.

Heart Stew Flu
This polish has sheer black base with an explosion of black and pink glitters including pink skull and bones. Use alone with 2-3 coats or one coat over a black base. Seal with a top coat for the most shine and a glassy surface.
(shown in 2 coats)

This is a black jelly with black and pink glitters and pink skull and crossbones. The pink skull and crossbones have to be fished out, but it makes for a really cool mani.

Wearing All I See is You on top of Cult Nails Nevermore

Wearing Mr. Spade on its own.

For indie, I definitely find them on the pricier side at $17 each, when a lot of indies are between $8 and $12.

Overall I like the formula of the Spell Polishes. The duochrome shades are nice but I really feel like Spell shines with their glitters. They’re unique and very pretty. I mean pink skulls and crossbones, purple spades, and gold stars? Yes please! So cute.

When you’re applying glitter polish, make sure you use a good base coat. Some people recommend using a glue (or the OPI glitter base coat, which is not cruelty free), but from what I’ve seen online those pop off in 24 to 48 hours. Just make sure, whatever you do, you use a base coat. You don’t want glitter sticking to your nail!

Make sure you use a good thick top coat, too, so that your nails are smooth instead of bumpy. HK Girl Glisten and Glow Top Coat, along with KBShimmer Clearly On Top are my two choices for the best top coats for glitter.

Fishing glitter can be tricky if you’re not used to it. Rather than swiping on the polish like you would with a regular color, you need to change your application method. Instead you need to dab your brush inside the bottle to get the bigger glitter pieces out, then dab the polish onto the nail. You can fill in the gaps in the top coat by dabbing on the glitter polish.

If you’re worried about removing the glitter, I recommend the foil method. Soak a cotton ball in Zoya Remove, put the cotton ball on your nail, then wrap foil around the finger tip and cotton ball to keep it moist. The Zoya Remove will penetrate into the polish and after about 5 minutes, you’ll be able to easily remove the glitter.

If you love unique and cool glitters, definitely check out Spell Polish. She has some great ones. It looks like she’s also recently released an 80s inspired collection called 1980s Dance Revival.

What do you think of Spell Polish? How do you like to wear your glitters?
