Foundation Fail: Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup

My hunt for my new, perfect foundation is turning out to be a nightmare. I have pretty demanding requirements: My foundation has to have buildable light/medium coverage, be compatible with my very dry skin, be satin to matte, very flexible and of course, free of all chemical sunscreens. So far, the foundations I have tried have been a wash. The foundation we are going to talk about today is no exception. This is Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in 1.0. I live in Bum Fuck Egypt and until just the other day, there was no store in which I could obtain a sample so I just read reviews and took my best guess and ordered the full size bottle from the Ulta website. Big mistake.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in shade 1.0. Urban Decay says that this is a virtually invisible liquid foundation that creates a luminous, demi-matte finish. There are eighteen shades, ranging from porcelain to deep, in warm and cool undertones. Just about anyone should be able to find a shade match. In my experience, this applies and dries down a little light. When requesting samples, get one that may match you and one a half shade darker.

Packaging is a sleek, clean vacuum pump bottle with silvered gunmetal trim and cap. This bottle looks chic and expensive and feels luxe in the hand.

The ingredients.

Drop and heavy swatch on my hand. Trust me, you do not want to see this on my face. This shade turned out to be about... Half a shade light for me. The perils of ordering online is shade guessing. I was able to get this to match me with my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. That powder ever so slightly darkens my foundation, helpful in this case.

Urban Decay Naked Skin has a thin, slightly runny liquid. Pigmented and smooth, it spreads easily across the skin, sets very quickly to even the skin tone yet let your natural beautiful shine through. This foundation feels weightless and comfortable on the face. Unfortunately, this foundation is not at all dry skin friendly. I keep my skin very well exfoliated and moisturized and I am an avid user of under makeup primer yet this foundation managed to find any tiny dry patches and it sank into my fine and not so fine lines, cracked and was a mess. I looked like a haunted house character in this foundation. It wasn't pretty. Add to that, it made my skin itch like a sonofabitch.

I paid $38.00 for this foundation and, because I didn't get back to the Valley within the return window, and I refuse to pay to return something by mail, I am stuck with a very expensive bottle of foundation I can't use. I've pumped out about four pumps, altogether. Yeah, I really got my money's worth. I'm still kicking my own ass for this one. Lesson learned? No more higher end foundation purchases without sampling, first.

Look, I'm not knocking this product. I know that a lot of people love it, it just didn't work for me. I don't know what I am going to do with this foundation... It is just sitting, in it's box in a drawer. Gah! I am such an idiot!
