Farrow and Ball Paint :: And a New Cabinet
Just before jet setting off from Copenhagen, I went on a little painting spree and started changing up my dining room. I have always said that my travels inspire me to create within my home, but apparently now just thinking about traveling inspires me. Hopefully I am not alone in this? The kind folks at Farrow and Ball asked me to join their “Flea Market Challenge” Campaign where several bloggers were asked to paint a piece and show just what a can of Farrow and Ball Paint can do. Here is a little “before” shot:
I know it will probably come as a shock to some of you that I painted my turquoise cabinet and I can assure you that I have taken many, many months to consider it, but as much as I loved the color it just did not go in this room. The dining, living, and kitchen are all open to one another and it constantly bothered me that the turquoise cabinet felt like it didn’t belong. Here are a couple shots of the living room and kitchen so you can see what I mean…
We are definitely not finished in here. The dining table (which also got a coat of paint!) was a bit of an experiment and I will share with you about that very soon, but overall we are thrilled with the result. (And I even get to give you a little sneak peek of the photography project we have been working on lately.) I just about broke out into a sweat when I applied the first coat of paint, but then I reminded myself of how much I loved the cabinet in the living room that I painted and just went for it. It’s just paint after all, right?
The color we used on the cabinet is called Mole’s Breath and is a very similar color to the couch, though it does look a bit lighter in these photos since the room was so bright. I really love when rooms are open to one another to treat the rooms almost as one. I think it flows better and creates a more cohesive space that way.
