beaches, picnics, baskets and cars

Sponsored Post Ford

Helloooo.

One of the things I just love about living in Australia is the amazing natural beauty, it’s the one thing that still surprises me, even though I’ve been here for, well, long enough to call myself not only an Australian Citizen but a local now…getting out and about and seeing a bit more of it all and lots of beaches is still right up there with the reasons we love it here and still our favourite thing to do at the weekend…

And the last few weeks I’ve been lucky enough to be driving a lovely little car as part of Voices of 2014 Paint the Town Ford Challenge.

I do love a drive by the sea and taking a new car out for a few sweet trips along the coast to admire one of Australia’s best beaches and a picnic in the bush, well there sure are worse places to be driving (hello M25, anyone here heard of that?).

The car was delivered with a bow…always a good way to a girl’s heart, right… it’s a cutie little car, a Ford Ecosport and a tad different to my regular school-run car…more compact but didn’t feel small and plenty of room for essentials…one has to have room for picnic baskets and quilts ;)

I scooted around town in this little baby that’s for sure…what I loved? – the fact that it was small but still had a nice high driving position, the interior gadget-y things, yes I do love to connect my phone to the car and listen to people talking about recipes (slow cooker podcasts, my life is so exciting), but most of all, my goodness the fuel economy was good – good enough for us to be re-considering our next car purchase.

I have taken this little car a lot of places – over the Harbour Bridge for a coffee and a treasure hunting adventure, to a kiddos sporting event where the parking was a complete nightmare but in this I nipped into a space, which was hilarious, because, umm, parallel parking isn’t ahem quite my thing and we’ve been out for lunch to a local cafe where the pizza was very good.
My favourite trips though have been to the beaches on the peninsula which I love, there are over twenty of them to choose from, some say that a couple of them are the best in the world, who knows, who cares, I just know throwing a basket and a picnic in the back of the very nice little car, driving down the road, and hitting a beach for a few hours is gold to me. The one here in the pics is one of my favourite because you can walk the cliffs/headland first and it’s all a bit rustic and fresh and then you can set up camp and sit and watch the ocean for a few hours. Love that.
And then there’s the beach/cafe/boutique trips out with my friend M and off we went here one day in the nippy little Ford (she took the photos of me, while I tried to suck everything in and look 110 years younger)…we often go out together grab a coffee, do a bit of mooching and shopping and then stop for lunch at a local beach…it’s a big big positive of living here and I like it very much…it’s even better when we score vintage treasure lol.

Most of all though, I pretty much just liked hopping in, starting her up and taking her to the beach. I’m always up for that.
