Beach Cottage gets French Clafoutis Recipe

Bonjour, here today we have a leetle Strawberry Clafoutis Recipe, yep I have been doing lots of baking these school holidays, such a goddess of zee domestic.

The last time I made this I nearly made myself sick it was so good, I am not sure what that is, is it a sugar and fat high, anyway, at the time it felt so so so so so good. Like amazingly gorgeous. With a cup of English PG Tips. I wished I could have jumped into the dish and been a clafoutis it was that good, though I must say I was having a particularly revolting day and craved comfort food (preceded it by Marmite on toast so no wonder I felt bad, some sort of self-inflicted, carb, sugar and fat hypo). Tell me please you too make yourself feel odd when you like something so much you can’t stop eating it? Afterwards though you really wonder why…the next morning when you see it in places on your body other than those you wouldn’t mind it going (in my case that would be cheeks and, oh wait, actually cheeks is probably the only place I am needing to fill) you even more wonder why you stuffed yourself with nearly a whole clafoutis meant to serve 4.

So anyway, yeah clafoutis, has to be up there with food of the gods and best thing is, to me, it’s EASY. Hello mega easy clafoutis recipe and it looks all classy, and difficult and….FRENCH.

I bung any old fruit in clafoutis, have to say I am never without a tin of fruit in the cupboard and often it ends up in one of these..but mostly I use fresh fruit and though I haven’t to be honest, tasted any fruit in this guise that works out bad…strawberries though are quite my fave and when they are on offer (as they are here now, wondering whether Queensland has been having a lot of sunshine?) I buy a few punnets just to make this dish.

I’ve not tried many different clafoutis recipes, although I have tried a couple that were more rich with the addition of cream and other bits and bobs like nutmeg and cinnamon….this one though I got from an old neighbour who though not French, had a name that certainly was…she was the 90′s version of Margo, but I think this recipe came straight from the 70′s, it’s good, darn good, it’s throw-in-one-bowl-and-get-in-the-bath-able and it tastes blooming amazing.

I warned you, don’t make this if you are feeling worried about wobbles and may be tempted to wolf down the lot…do make this is you want to sit in a carb and fat induced heaven with a cup of PG Tips and tell everyone in the world to, you know, bugger off.

Easy Clafoutis Recipe

3 tbsp plain flour (though I’ve used SR too with no problems)

1 cup sugar

1 3/4 cups milk

3 eggs

1 punnet strawberries sliced

pinch of salt

50g butter cubed into small pieces

1. mix all ingredients in a bowl or pop in mixer and set to low

2. in a shallow baking dish lay the strawberries

3. pour on the batter and bake for about 30 minutes 210C

4. make a cup of tea, close curtains, put up feet, enjoy

OK, I am heading down the beach, if you bump into me take note of my cheeks.
