Coming Soon

Life is good, but boy can it get crazy sometimes. When it rains it pours - so many events and happenings going on that I have been a bit overwhelmed in a good way. I am in a good place, but it does take a whole lot of organization to make life and work run smoothly.

I run my blog by myself. I have a tech guy who helps me when something goes wrong or I need changes on the back end of things. I recently found someone to take care of the advertising in my sidebar. This is a huge help - It lets me focus on what I love best and that is bringing you affordable and creative DIY.

I am working on many projects, each at different stages of completion – all will be showing up here soon.

The main thing I have been working on, is not for my blog. Today I sent off something I have been working on for the past few weeks. I can’t show you – you will see it in about a year.

Remember when I reviewed the book, Creative Lettering. The book sold well and the author, Jenny Doh is working on a new one. She asked me if I would like to be one of the contributors to the book, of course I said yes. It took a little bit of time to get all the projects and tutorials done, but I am happy to say – I just sent my projects to her. I am excited to see what I did in print, but will have to be patient. I will keep you posted when the book comes out and will have a few to give away.

Working on my projects for the lettering book kept me from finishing the powder room. I am just about finished and will have the full reveal next week. I am still not used to how the room looks.

A funny thing happened on Monday. I was very tired when Ed and I got back from visiting our youngest daughter over the weekend. We had been driving all day and as soon as we got home, I ran into the house to go to the powder room. As I was opening the door, in my mind, the room was the way it used to look with the wallpaper. When I turned on the light, I almost jumped in surprise, not remembering the changes. That made me laugh out loud. Has this ever happened to you when you are making major changes to a room?

Another project that I am excited to complete, is the floor in my mudroom. I have all the supplies and paints needed to paint it. I painted a rug on it many years ago, but when the floor was refinished, it was sanded off. I am going to paint a new rug that is going to be quite different from the previous one. Lots of color coming soon.

The biggest project I am going to take on this Spring is the transformation of my oldest daughter’s bedroom.

Here is where Ed works now…in the dining room. When my dad passed away in December, my siblings and I went through his belongings and took the items that we each wanted and donated the rest. I took his desk to create an office for Ed in the unused bedroom.

See the rug, I forgot to show you that in the post I did a few weeks ago about a few new items I bought. I bought it for the BH&G photo shoot. It is from Target. While Ed works here, I moved the rug so it runs under the path of the office chair.

This is what the room looks like now. The desk has 3 parts. I plan to place it in the center of the room – good Feng Shui.

This is kind of what I have planned for it. I found this photo over at BH&G. I love the grasscloth above the wainscoting. It would look good for an office and if we move and I need to stage the house to sell, I can easily change out the furnishings to make the room into a bedroom again.

The hardest part of the makeover is going to be what to do with everything in the room. Once that is cleared out, I know I will get inspired and get the room transformed quickly and of course on a super tight budget.

These are the big projects, I have lots of smaller ones on my posting calendar, too. I know when winter is behind us, I will get a huge spike of energy and will get lots done to share with you. I am looking forward to that.

Happy Weekend!
