Using Wahanda!

To be honest, it’s only been in the last few years that I have actively been going to salons for treatments (apart from hair cuts of course – even I can’t bring myself to cut my own hair!) because it always felt like such a treat. My family full of women were never really into beauty pampering (proper hard working sloggers, us!) so I was never introduced to that kind of thing either, and if I am honest many of the women I know now don’t have the time or money to go and treat themselves to pampering.

One of the reasons I have been going to the salon for massages now, odd facials, odd spa days and more rarely, mani-pedis is because of deal sites and places like Wahanda. (Note: Wahanda sent a £100 gift voucher for me to use on a treatment, this post is NOT sponsored, and I do use them anyway.)

I will share of my favourite finds on Wahanda later on in the post (for Manchester)!

Anyway for me what I have found to be pros of using Wahanda:

1. PRICES – There are often deals, either last minute ones or special offers at random places. Once you know a salon you like or therapist, you can keep an eye out for a good deal. Also, Wahanda always has some kind of discount going on, such as £10 off which makes the prices far more reasonable.

2. BOOKING ONLINE - I actually find it hard to make calls in the day so booking online is great (although not all venues allow this).

3. ACCOUNTABILITY - I have never once had a problem with a salon or treatment and not had Wahanda deal with it promptly – they are like the buffer when god knows it’s hard to say after a treatment, ‘That was CRAP’.

4. VARIETY - I am not the sort of person that is going to randomly visit a salon out of the blue, I like to see reviews and have a look online first. I also don’t really get many recommendations for Manchester, so it’s another find a new place to visit. I have found my favourite therapist through Wahanda who does amazing massages for example, and a great lady for Nails – it has taken time to find these peoples, I have kissed many frogs too.

Cons of using Wahanda:

1. COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS – I have had a few times where I’ve encountered a problem because the salon hasn’t got the booking from Wahanda or their online calendar isn’t accurate and my booked time has to be changed. This is rarer now, but it has happened a few times, and I’ve always been accommodated in the end, but of course this is something that needs improving. It’s worth calling the salon beforehand anyway to make sure you are pencilled in.

2. LIMITATIONS - Obviously they can’t have every salon on their website, the business has to want to be listed too which is a shame, I’d love it if some hairdressers I want to try were on there too.

3. MULTI ORDERS - One thing I really want them to do is to allow me to stack up treatments, so sometimes I might want to add nails to a hair cut treatment, but at the moment they have to go through separately.

I have used Wahanda for a few years and for any of my Manchester ladies, my favourite places (which I book through Wahanda cos it’s easier!) are:

1. Prodigious Hands – Licet does the massages, I reviewed her here and basically, once you go to her, you don’t need to go to anyone else for massages. That’s it! She’s just amazing. I recommend the deep tissue (she can be hardcore) but she has been adapting her techniques for me during my pregnancy and I trust her completely as I know she knows what she is doing.

2. Nails by Natalya – Me and mother went for Pedicures and Natalya did a great job whilst being gentle too. Also, the polish she applied lasted a freakily long time!

Ummm…that’s it. I have tried over 30 different therapists and treatments over the years and they are the only two I can recommend fully at the moment, I am that fussy. But I am totally up for trying new places for sure, and that’s what Wahanda lets me do quite easily.

*I am using my voucher towards a hair cut in the new year, post baby!
