DIY Tripod Planter

I’m excited to announce that I’m taking over the Lowe’s Instagram for the next five days, sharing some jungalicious projects and styling tips–including this nifty thrifty little tripod planter I whipped up in about 15 minutes.

I think this little dude would make a pretty perfect gift for a plant-lover. Keep on reading for the instructions, and be sure to follow along here for more ideas and inspo!

DIY Tripod Planter

Get a planter (I opted for black and I’m enjoying how sexy it looks with the gold).
You’ll need two cork plant trivets, the same size as the bottom of your planter.
Pick up three tapered legs.
Hook yourself up with some serious glue, metallic gold spray paint, a craft knife, duct tape and (duh) a plant. I’m having a philodendron moment.

1. Place strips of tape in different areas of the planter, leaving negative space so that triangle shapes form throughout. Make sure there are no bubbles or creases in the tape.
2. Spray paint the rims of the trivets, the planter, and the tree tapered legs gold and wait for them to dry. Once the paint is dry, remove tape from planter.
3. Using the craft knife, carefully cut three small holes in the two trivets, equal distances apart, near the edge of the trivet–that’s where the screws from the tapered legs will go. Make sure the holes in the two trivets line up to one another.
4. Glue the two trivets on top of each other.
5. Glue the trivet to the bottom of the planter.
6. Place a dollop of glue in the three holes in the trivets, and on the top of the tapered legs and carefully ‘screw’ the legs into the trivets.
7. Plant up your new spiffy planter!

All of the materials used in this project can be found at Lowe’s Home Improvement. This post and the IG takeover are part of an ongoing partnership I have with Lowe’s. Woot woot.
