Zany & Zaftig with Gap Styld.by

I know. I’ve been holding out on you guys. My little brother is a real hottie, right? Well believe it or not, in all my years of blogging and styling this is the first time I’ve EVER been asked to put together a male look, so his good looks are finally coming in handy Meet my bro Shai. He stopped by the studio last week to help me out with my Gap Styld.by campaign… (Sorry folks, he’s taken!–Happily married to an amazing woman and they have three kids!! #NoJoke.)

We had a blast pretending to be supermodels. Just like old times, only he no longer has a curly duck tail going down his back and I no longer have breasts that bounce–but alas, I digress. We’re not here to talk about tails or boobs we’re talking fah-shion…so here’s what I’m wearing…

I chose my new absolute favorite staple, the sweater coat. This thing is so comfortable that I’d even sleep in it. Underneath it, I wanted to wear something that would kinda hug my curves (an oversize coat an oversize dress = no bueno). I also wanted something I could dress up or down and would always be comfortable in so I went with this Ballet dress. It’s has sex appeal but still keeps things kinda mysterious if you know what I mean. It’s always good to keep people guessing a little bit I accessorized with some booties I’ve been practically living in, and a pretty striped scarf for a pop of pattern.

My bro has on a fun, warm sweater with a pattern that feels kinda boho-holiday-ish, and a comfy flannel. His teal khakis are my new favorite. I want all the men in my life wear these teal khakis.

Living in a small space can be a challenge any time of year, but it can be especially daunting during the holidays. Holidays are meant to be a time for entertaining, hanging with friends and family and often hosting out-of-towners. This is all wonderful, but if your home is on the smaller end of the spectrum, hosting the holidays can become stressful. So when Target asked me to devise an idea for small space holiday decor, I immediately thought about one thing: Use the walls. No matter how small your home is, you (hopefully!) have wall space, right? So with that in mind I thought about my ‘spot on the wall‘ concept that I’ve used to add color in several homes that I’ve decorated, and I reimagined the idea as a Christmas Tree.

I painted a triangle for the tree, and a small square for the stump, on the wall in a minty-green shade (you could so use contact paper if your landlord isn’t down with paint). Then I painted a small floating shelf to match. When I installed the shelf on the wall, I centered the brackets around the ‘stump’ to make it more tree-like. The shelf then provides the perfect spot for a few small, beautifully wrapped gifts and some holiday decor, like this deer head I’ve become totally smitten with.

Next I added a string of battery-operated LED lights and simply taped them to the wall with washi tape.

Then I decorated the rest of the holiday corner with small, functional, versatile pieces like this gold tufted bench, (the gold accents help keep things looking festive).

I also am using this agate book-end as a decorative object.

And this cozy (and super soft) throw provides the perfect spot to gather, chill out on the floor, open gifts, celebrate and hang out under the ‘tree.’ Happy (small space) decorating!
