Black Friday Sales Roundup & Reviews

Coat: (no brand borrowed from cousin), Hunter Tour boots (25% off today) Scarves: 40% off my reversible one & turkey's plaid one (see on me - who wore it better?). Snowman's scarf is sold out but F21 restocked their $12 version w/ free ship today!

I hope everyone who celebrates had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine consisted of a morning of rolling snowmen and snowturkeys (followed by a rather intense snowball fight that I wasn't prepared for) and an afternoon in the kitchen with my family. We always have fusion T-giving and this year it was my mom's incredible "hong shao rou" (braised pork belly) with mashed potatoes, stuffing, and the American works...an unusual combo but nevertheless delish. I'm tucked away in my PJs now with no intention to brave the mad Black Friday crowds, but did want to share some great deals happening online! Some of the sites like TB are slow, likely due to the throngs of sale visitors so it may take a few minutes.

Saks off 5th - ~50% off free ship on these Stuart Weitzman boots (sizes 6.5 left in black leather) with small wedge that look super similar (if not the same style) as the ones I have. The low wedge makes them super comfortable and gives a little height, so I wish they weren't discontinued! See my old review here. Use code BLACKOUT to get an extra 40-50% off items on the site, however these boots are excluded from further sale.

Ends 12/1 - Tory Burch - buy more save more sale up to 30% off your order with code LUCKY & free ship on all orders. I love the Robinson tote (pictured right below) or other bags from that classic line which would make amazing gifts. It's one of my favorite fall purchases and has been with me through work, weekends and travel this month. If you are interested in this bag and don't already have a caramel brown tote, the Tigers Eye shade would be my other pick. I will say it is not a lightweight bag due to the sturdy pebbled leather. Their saffiano coated leather bags are lighter (love this grey taupe which I recently saw on a friend), and if you're looking for very light then AT's gallery tote (50% off today) or Longchamp are still my go-tos.

Old Navy - up to 50% off plus extra 15% off with code GRAVY; petites are online only. I had tried on this wool-blend peacoat (starts at under $30 post-discounts) since several of you have asked for shorter coat recommendations. The color options for this coat are extensive, and the fit of an XS petite feels comparable to a 00 to 0 petite in most American brands. This was the fit over a flannel shirt thick sweater:

Old Navy coat in XSP, Loft jeans in 24p (40% off), Tory Burch bag (up to 30% off)
The material looks a bit one-dimensional in person, but I wasn't expecting high quality given the price. I also thought it looked better open than buttoned-up for the more "swingy" look. In short, I'd recommend this as a light to medium weight jacket (not suited for frigid winters) for someone needing outerwear on a budget. I tend to splurge more on ourterwear, plus prefer either longer or more cropped lengths so this coat was not for me personally.

My top recommendation from the ON sale is this soft striped sweater dress which is now ~$14, but please read my review on the off the rack fit, which I had to DIY slim at the waist (posted some photos in response to commenters). I also ordered this dot sweater dress which is in a lightweight 100% cotton that I thought was good quality for the price. The fit is also boxy at the waist again (why, ON?!) but actually a little slimmer than my striped one. I didn't love the pattern as its less suitable for a professional office, but it ended up being perfect for my cousin. Here was the fit as-is on me:

Old Navy dot sweater dress in XSP (50% 15% off), BP ankle boots (runs small)

Gap: 50% off everything today with code BLKFRIDAY. Petite sizing is online only and there's sweater options galore. If you're looking for a thin, lightweight option - this 100% merino wool sweater is $25 after discounts and runs pretty small, both short and slim (lots of complaints about this online which can be positive for smaller-framed women). For thick, I've mentioned this Cable Knit Sweater after spotting it on my friend, and finally snagged it from her to show the fit. In contrast to the merino, this is a toasty and thick sweater that is tightly knit.

Anthropologie - 25% off everything today with HOLIDAY25. They have a big petites section featuring less mainstream brands, with sizing that usually fits without alterations. Here are a few unique-looking pieces that are beautiful for work and/or the holidays.
25% off: Petites Water garden dress, Medallion skirt, Chelly Dress,

From the home section, I picked up a few of these holiday edition gold mugs which are also great little gifts (love the design and generous size, as trite as these might be!). FYI these are not microwaveable due to the metallic paint, unlike the regular black monogram ones which I have as well and are microwave-safe. I use them around the place also for storing pens and lipsticks/eyeliners.

30% off: ASOS petites coat (more pics on me here) Right: True Decadence petites skirt
Ends 11/30 - ASOS - take 30% off everything with code TGIBF. This is pretty generous for ASOS plus they have free shipping over $40 and free returns. ASOS' in-house brand runs at least a size smaller than US brands and is usually very petite-friendly. I'd recommend this slim-fitting long coat that I have for those with milder winters, or spring/fall. The material is medium quality but the fit was great off the rack and the style is classic. I also ordered this cobalt True Decadence petites skirt last month in my regular US size 00 petite but it was much too small (for reference it measured 11.5" across the waist). The material was thin for the price but not bad with the 30% off promo. The color was beautiful and I did like how the material held the skirt's shape without being too full.

30% off: Little Mistress floral organza dress; contrast skater dress
If you have trouble finding skirts that fit narrow enough at the waist and prefer not to do alterations, definitely try ASOS. They also have an extensive selection of dresses in petite sizing which run small in my experience - love the look of this dress on the above left for a winter formal event or wedding!

30% off: Boden Rainy Day mac (more colors here). I'm wearing an older pattern.

Ends 11/30 - Boden - 30% off everything and free shipping & returns with code N9H6. I so wish Boden made more extended petite sizing (they start at 2P) because their styles are great quality (in my limited experience, anyways), and classic but with bright colors and playful prints. Their Rainy Day Mac pictured above has been my favorite functional raincoat given the quality materials & construction and oh-so-cozy fleece lining that's also inside the pockets. I admit I reach for it more than my Burberry rain jacket these days. See my old review on it - I received a 2P and altered the sleeves, but the shoulders fit decently and felt more like a 0P, especially if you plan on layering.

Modcloth - take 50% off a large selection of new arrivals, today only (prices as marked) with everyday free shipping over $50. A lot of cute dresses with more retro-inspired prints and silhouettes.

J.Crew: 30% off most items at the regular store and 50% off at the factory outlet (both have petites). I don't know if they made less of petite coats this year or people are just in a craze to buy before winter, but their inventory doesn't look like it'll survive past this level of a discount. The lady day coat which I own and love is nearly gone in several sizes and colors. I have a small but growing collection of J.Crew's shoes, which are beautifully crafted and run about half a size small for pointy styles. Now that Ann Taylor's perfect pumps (originally with leather soles, lining, and outers) are a thing of the past, J.Crew makes some of the best classic pumps in my opinion below the "designer" price range. They are not inexpensive by any means but look nice and sleek like higher end shoes.

30% off: J.Crew Elsie pumps, Stella pumps, and Collection Leopard pumps
AT stores: take 50% off sitewide at Ann Taylor & 40% at LOFT today - see my most recent fitting room reviews here: AT and LOFT.

Laura Mercier: take 25% off purchases of $100 and free ship, great for restocking on your favorite foundations or eye shadow sticks. See my recent LM post here.

Lastly, for those who need professional or interview wear, Theory is having 40% off a large selection of items, and they have free shipping and returns. I haven't blogged about them in some time but my Theory dresses and blazers (sleeve were shortened on sz 00 regular) are in regular rotation. I noticed their classic Gabe blazers are 40% off in all colors, but please note they are unfortunately marked final sale.
