The Modern Girl by Saint Laurent

It's funny — ever since Hedi Slimane took the reigns at Saint Laurent, I've been underwhelmed with each runway show. But then the brand's advertising campaigns come out and the clothes hit stores, and suddenly, something clicks.

This stuff is so chic and so effortlessly wearable. It's not for the girl who wants to reinvent the wheel, the tireless runway peacock. It's for the girl who wants high quality, moderately trendy clothes. Which — let's be real — is probably the majority of fashion followers out there.

Things like a trim tuxedo, shearling jacket, sparkly dress, fur coat, silk blouse, high-waisted jeans. It's not rocket science. We all understand this stuff.

There's something refreshingly unpretentious about Slimane's aesthetic these days. And after seeing these images — photographed by the designer himself — I'm officially a fan.

P.S. Oh, and I'm totally obsessed with Grace Hartzel's hair in these photos. So '70s shaggy — I love it!
