Admont Abbey Library

First of all : NEW DESIGN. I’ve been working on it for a long time now, and I finally did something I liked. The header is my handwriting, and the little ribbon in the footer and the social icons were also made by me. What do you think, do you like it ?

So, last week I bought a galaxy tab 2, and since then it’s been a struggle for me to find the perfect wallpaper. I want a flawless book wallpaper but I never found one so .. I decided that for now, I’ll use a picture of London I took in June.
However, this morning, I found something quite interesting…
The Admont Abbey Library… alias the library that looks like the one in the Beauty and The Beast (Disney version.)

Can’t believe I never heard of it before, since I first saw these pictures all I want to do it’s book a ticket to Austria and dream in this beautiful and dreamy building.

According to Wikipedia :

The library hall, built in 1776 to designs by the architect Joseph Hueber, is 70 metres long, 14 metres wide and 13 metres high, and is the largest monastery library in the world. It contains c. 70,000 volumes of the monastery’s entire holdings of c. 200,000 volumes. The ceiling consists of seven cupolas, decorated with frescoes by Bartolomeo Altomonte showing the stages of human knowledge up to the high point of Divine Revelation. Light is provided by 48 windows and is reflected by the original colour scheme of gold and white. The architecture and design express the ideals of the Enlightenment, against which the sculptures by Joseph Stammel of « The Four Last Things » make a striking contrast.
