BANDCRUSH// THEE MVP’S

London garage punk four-piece THEE MVP’s had a great start last year when they were supporting Ty Segall before they had even released a song and were recently smashing it up all over London. Their powerful tracks, reminding of sleazy 60s garage punk and surf, tell stories about birds and getting viciously drunk. They are fun and make you feel rad – not bad. Their sound is trashy, but they are definitely on the right side of messy. The “Thee” in their name makes the Thee Oh Sees influence quiet obvious and as we love scratchy guitar riffs and off the cuff screams, we think they took their inspiration just from the right ones. With their newest EP “Thee MVP’s” they’re the closest thing Britain have to Parquet Courts. Everything is played at breakneck speed, but this isn’t simply thoughtless thrash, as it bears significant evidence of coherent, accomplished song-writing. Thee MVP’s channel punk’s energy in a wholly contemporary way.
