Manpuku Ramen, Kingsford. Keep that ramen coming, Sydney!

Manpuku Black – $13.90

That’s me just doing some casual ramen ordering.

The ramen selection – You can’t really go too wrong here.

#7 ramen – I’m not even going to try to say the name – $12.90

On the Kingsford strip.

Thanks Sydney for having a mild obsession with ramen. There’s nothing like that hot pork broth combined with noodles and fatty pork to get rid of any hangover and promptly replace it with a food coma.

Manpuku Ramen has been open for a little while now on Kingsford’s restaurant strip. You know the one of Anzac Parade with a million different Chinese and Indo restaurants full of UNSW students? Yeah, that strip.

My preference with ramen is a slightly thick base with thin and slightly hard noodles. Manpuku’s stock is good but not super thick, which means you’ll probably only suffer from a mild ramen coma. The noodles are thin and not soggy which goes well with their base and even better in my mouth. If you’re still feeling hungry, you can always order more noodles (called kaedama).

I ordered #7 with the comically long name (Kono Deaini Kanshashite Aijou to Jonetsu Komete isshoukennmei Tukutta Ochirano Icchan Sukina Manpuku shiawase Ramen) and added corn because the Asian in me thinks every dish can be made better with corn. My boyfriend who likes all black everything unsurprisingly ordered #6 – Manpuku Black – a soy based garlicky soup. Both tasted like the kind of ramen we ate in Japan – so this place is pretty legit.

Manpuku Ramen keep their menu limited (which I think is a good thing) and just focus on making good ramen.
