STRIPES

Revisiting the classic.

As some trends disappear as fast as you can say Vogue, there are some pieces that remain seasonless. And this bring me to our topic du jour; stripes. Striped pieces indisputably fall under the label of "classic", closely competing against the Little Black Dress, the white blouse, the boyfriend tee, the little black jacket etc.
Call them "staples", "classics" or "what every woman oughts to have in her wardrobe", there's more to love about these pieces than their durability against the time, fashions and fads. That is high return on investment. Being the canvas-like pieces that they are, LBD, stripes and other prominent staples of the classic variety means that a) You always have something to wear that looks decent whatever the fashion climate b) High WPI (wears per item) - a highly desirable and rare attribute resulting from the canvas-like property of such classics. Whether you're feeling boho, grunge or Audrey Hepburn-ish, these pieces can and will deliver following manipulative styling.
The pictured striped dress is case in point of all the above. While I chose to wear it a la Nouveau Grunge, wrapping a shirt that is straight from my mum's 90s wardrobe, and adding a dose of femininity facilitated through nude pointy heels, this is a dress you can wear however you like. Viva la classics.
