It's A...

When our doctor asked us if we wanted to know the baby's sex at our last appointment, I asked if she would write it down and seal it in an envelope. My parents were coming to L.A. the following weekend and I loved the idea of all of us finding out at the same time. But since secrets are not exactly my strength and waiting 10 full days seemed nearly impossible, we drove home and, while sitting in the car in our driveway, ripped opened the envelope.

G was convinced it was a girl, which is also what he not-so-secretly hoped for. I was less certain. I didn't have any particular intuition one way or another, but our preliminary list of boy names was much longer than the options for girls, so I just assumed we'd have a boy. Once I read the words "It's a girl!" I immediately starting crying. It was one of the first times I'd experienced such a surge of emotions after feeling so anxious for the majority of the first trimester and suddenly everything felt real and exciting. We're both thrilled and while having either a boy or girl would be amazing, all we really hope for is a healthy and happy child.

Thank you to Georgetown Cupcake (who happens to make my favorite cupcake in the city) who created these adorable duck and rattle-topped fondant cupcakes filled with pink frosting for us.
