tough love

It’s all about the tough love.

This look (as well as my horrible expression) was inspired by the notion of tough love.

It’s amazing what we as a human race endure for love – it’s almost as if love makes us tough. We’re often left scarred due to our relationships, hoping that one day we’ll be able to find someone who’ll help us heal. But all that waiting could be in vain if the one you need is right under your nose, being real with you and letting you know when you’ve made a mistake, or when you’re overreacting. Sometimes real love is tough – it’s being honest, open and a bit predictable.

I’ve found that love isn’t always about being completely happy all of the time – sometimes it’s about being smacked in the face with what may seem like a harsh realization – the truth. It’s about being told what you need to hear so that you can truly appreciate the one you’re with. Love is tough because it doesn’t take prisoners, and a tough kind of love is the one you sometimes need to shape you into the person you will eventually become – with a little bit of sweet mixed with the bitter to produce a long-lasting, honest and healthy relationship.

So love hard and love tough, and never overlook the person who does the same.
