A new beauty trend is popping up on various runways. From New York to London, we've spotted a sun-kissed trend brewing. Faux freckles are gracing the cheeks and noses of runway models thanks to a new breed of beauty tool: freckle pencils.
The idea is to create a youthful, playful look à la Annie or Pippi Longstocking. Typically the freckles are placed on the cheeks and nose in a natural fashion to simply allude to summer days spent lounging in the sun. We caught an up-close look at this trend backstage at Milly Spring 2015, where makeup artists Mark Carrasquillo for Beauty.com used the Kevyn Aucoin precision Brow Pencil in Dark Brunette ($26) to create a delicate freckle mask.

And the beauty trend popped up overseas as well. Models at Preen donned a smattering of freckles all over their faces for an '80s sporty vibe. Makeup artist Val Garland used MAC pencils in a variety of shades such as mahogany, oak, stone and coffee for a true fresh-faced look.
