Fashion Nostalgia

One of the big jobs on my list is to convert our enormous box of family slides into digital images. This is an ongoing task, and Im sure the to do pile multiplies whenever I leave the room!just one box of many to be convertedI have to say that although this task is long and tedious at times, I have had a wonderful time discovering pictures of my family that Im sure I havent seen before. Another great discovery I have made is the fashion history of my Mother. I knew she liked clothes and always looked nice, but I had no idea she was such a groover! She may not have been in the latest designer styles, but her hair was always done and her make-up on.Much of my fashion ethos comes from my Mother. As a kid it was annoying to never leave the house unless you looked decent, or you cant go into the city dressed like that - but as an adult, I realise that my desire to always look my best comes from my Mothers high standards of personal appearance. Never in a million years would my Mum be caught outside the house without clean clothes or lipstick. Even now that she has retired to a small country town, she will always change out of her garden clothes to go the short journey down the shop to grab some milk. For your viewing pleasure, I have put together a collection of photos that showcase her fantastic style ... shhh, dont tell her that shes featured on my blog!1950s1960s1970sThis picture shows my Mum being sketched by my Aunt, artist Marj Millar. Thanks Mum - your passion for always looking nice has rubbed off and resulted in my profession! From my Father I get my photographic passion ... hence the gazillion boxes of slides, but that is a post best left for another time.
