I got a tattoo!

Hi friends! I’ve been wanting a tattoo for quite some time now and I did a pretty crazy & spontaneous thing over the weekend – I got a tattoo! I’m so happy with how it turned out. What do you think? Do you like it?

Just kidding!!! : ) April fools. I didn’t get a tattoo, I just used this printable tattoo paper from silhouette. I know, I know – super cheesy. It doesn’t look super real, so maybe you weren’t fooled. But I really do want a tattoo. Just not sure if I can handle the pain. But I have been decided on the word, and I asked Julie from Flourish and Whim back in 2012 to write something out for me in her beautiful calligraphy. She did a wonderful job, I just never got the tattoo! But here’s what I would get and why:

shalom
שָׁלוֹם
peace. completeness, wholeness, delight, the fullness of the way things ought to be. peace between two entities. to restore.

To me, this word is a promise of hope. a hope in what is to come. though we can experience love and joy in this life, we also deal with death, sickness, hate, sadness, sin, and so many other harsh things. but that is not how it was intended to be. and a day will come where we will be restored, and it will be a glorious day! this word is a reminder to me of a day that is coming, the day i wait for and hope in.

Anyway, printing out the tattoo to “test” it out is great! It’s kind of a permeant thing, so you better be sure you’re set on the design! I think I would probably get it a lot smaller. I still like it on the arm somewhere. Maybe the wrist, which I hear will hurt a lot more. But if it’s small, maybe it won’t take too long. What about you? Any thoughts on tattoos? Do you have a tattoo? Or anyone out there want to get one? Would love to hear your thoughts on them. Any significant stories about yours or even any regret stories!

ps: in case you’re wondering – my dress & bag are thrifted. (one of my fave finds ever!) the shoes are steve madden. the necklace is son of a sailor. cuff bracelet is from kmhmakes (one of my booth neighbor’s at Renegade!) and the other bracelets are from the long beach antique market.
