What I Didn't Buy at the Flea Market: Pop Culture, Toys, Robots, Lizards, and More

My friends and I went on a flea market stroll while in Orlando; Flea World, they call it. It stands out with its bold orange and black stripes, calling to visitors to the Land of Mickey and regulars alike. I was warned it was mostly "Made in China" wares but was on a plant hunt anyways.

I'm trying to turn my apartment into a proverbial jungle, you see. I want ALL THE PLANTS. I want any inevitable move to be obnoxiously difficult because I'm lugging out heavy terra cotta planters filled with dirt and greenery. I'm a masochist that way, yet the plants are worth it. Gardening is in my blood, my soul. But I digress.

The best booth of all was a pop culture collectors din filled to the brim with a few of my favorite things. The burger king toy collection caught my eye first. I still have a few of these and should put them on a shelf. Look at the colorful monsters on display, so inspiring. Beguiling, glittering under their spotlight.

There were several cases filled with (valuable) original Voltron toys like the one above...

Transformers Beast Wars toys. (Non-nerds, are your eyes rolling out of the heads yet? Just admire the colors, then. So bright. So lovely. And note any price tags you can read, resellers. These toys can go for a pretty penny on eBay.)

Jurassic Park, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Originals, The Land Before Time, Pixar, the toys went on and on. All in great condition.

The Star Wars pieces, beautiful to behold. I love the quality/look of these big toys.

I do believe this particular Transformers shelf was my favorite, it had a few of the toys from Transformers the Movie, still one of my favorite movies of all time. You can see the VHS for it on the second shelf. One Dinobot Transformers had a $455.00 price tag!

Go Bots Case! Robots of all shapes and sizes, I'd love to have you displayed in my home. This inspires me to hit up some more yard sales for interesting larger toys to add to the collection.

And the Beetlejuice toys in-case, gorgeous! I still adore the hell out of Beetlejuice and will pick up any of the toys I see while out about.

I'd love to own a case (or 2 or three) like the one above to arrange my collections. I'd re-arrange when the muse hits to stretch composition balancing muscles. That's... not akin to playing with the toys, right? Of course not! Don't judge me!

There were toys strapped to the ceiling all over the joint to behold.

And gorgeous vintage Shogun Warriors. These toys are HUGE, at least 3 feet tall I believe? I regret not buying one of these for $10.00 when I had the chance, they go for much more. I hope I'll encounter affordable ones again in the wild one day.

And now for something completely different, a beautiful lizard! I miss keeping reptiles and amphibians as bets. I've had newts, geckos and long-tailed lizards, they're beautiful creatures. The same booth had puppies but I could not take photos. The first impulse was to pet each one and hope that they're being treated humanely.

This little video game booth had a fun mario mural to document.

This case was for display only, a gorgeous retro piece. Probably quite rare, I've never seen anything like it before. A little before my time but I grew up playing and loving both games.

But the Sega games are definitely my "Era". I adored playing Michael Jackson's Moonwalker! (Another favorite movie!) I regret the quality of this photo and the one above, I was rushing to catch up with Ruth and Marianne, who kindly tolerated all my photo taking and nerd-talk.

Another "toy" booth had a midsection filled with nothing but assorted dinosaurs! Glorious.

This repo-retro piece caught my eye, ultimately left it behind (and have been selling off the ones I had like it). Fun, though.

Next week I'll share my progress with house-jungaling (turning the home into a plant oasis, and some veggie/leafy green seed starting while I'm at it), my DIY project, useful whole living and business info, and photos from more random adventures. For now, time to work on catching up, cleaning, and perfecting said posts! I've been busy helping some other business owners and it's led to some neglect for my own work, but I'm excited to get back to it!
