The Makeup Show LA 2014 Haul

Once again, The Makeup Show Los Angeles proves to be my one of favorite makeup shows. Although it isn’t massive as most shows the quality of the products are better. You can easily spend a ton of money in the first few hours because it isn’t a showcase of random, repetitive, mediocre products. I also like that I get information from representatives that work for the brands and they tend to be more knowledgeable than people that are only hired for the show. They often give you tips and tricks that you’ll love but hate because they’ll show you other products you know you’ll love. My favorite keynote this year was one given by the eyebrow master, Damone Roberts, which I posted here. Talk about leaving inspired. They also launched the Kevin Aucoin legends gallery which was a fantastic display of his career. For me this has been the event to network and create both friendships and business-friendship and that did not change this year. This year I met Youtuber/ Makeup Artist Trisha of A Glittery Life! I can’t wait to attend next year!

Make Up For Ever HD Blush n 410 Coral and 420 Indian Rosewood - The original HD blushes with the creamy texture and pump have been replaced. I haven’t had too much time to play with these but Mai has and they look gorgeous! These are best applied under foundation for a natural glow.

NARS Contouring Blush Duo in Gienah (honey/ amber) - I’ve been playing with this contouring duo for a while and can’t wait to share my review.

NARS Adelaide Illuminator - This hot pink bundle of joy is everything! From what I understand it will be sold in NARS along with the Pink collection that was a Nordstroms exclusive. It’s very whimsical, princess-like and has glass shimmer. I usually put it over foundation but under setting powder. If you’re wondering if it’s too pink for me, not at all.

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in 48 Blackcurrant and 49 Satin Blueberry - Yes, it doesn’t take much effort to find a dupe for these but I love the texture and the way it feels. I’m also not in the mood for traditional spring colors right now.

Make Up For Ever HD Pressed Powder* – I used this setting powder once and it snatched away all the bronzy glow I had. I guess on some it can give the look of buffed/ blurred skin, but on me it was like dead skin. I’m not a fan of it.

Make Up For Ever Super Matte Loose Powder in Caramel - I love this powder but got the wrong color, it should have been apricot. I’m figure out something and make it work.

Gorgeous Cosmetics Lipstick in Grounded – Who can pass up a good nude? I sure can’t. I probably could have done without this one only because it doesn’t come cheap and feels like NYX but with better packaging.

Gorgeous Cosmetics Madison Avenue Mascara* – I’ve been wearing it and while I really like it, it isn’t life-changing to justify the price tag of $25.

Jouer Lip Enhancer and Lip Gloss in Peony- Jouer is like a prestige beauty secret that I’ve seen a lot of makeup artists use. I’ve been a fan of their Lip Enhancer since last year and now I’m hooked on their lip glosses.

OCC Spring 1024 Lip Tars (Devin Greene) - Pool Body (turquoise), Mannequin (Barbie pink), and Rollergirl (hot purple). These are all matte once dried.

Embryolisse Eau de Beaute Rosemelis* – Spring is in the air and this rosewater toner gets used and abused daily. I use it after cleanser but love it before applying makeup and as a refresher to take some of the powder out (tone it down).

Embryolisse Radiant Eye – This is the beauty breakthrough product of the year! This stick can be used over makeup and instantly cools and brightens; it feels like an ice cube but it’s moisturizing. If you love to hangout of have poor sleep habits, you need this in your bag at all times.
