(She Wore) Green Velvet: Edina Ronay Dress

Last month I had a little pre-birthday treat when American Husband took me to London for the weekend, to stay at the fabulous London Edition in the heart of the city. Such opulent hotel surroundings deserve equally indulgent dressing, and what better than velvet, the fabric associated with nobility and luxury, to kickstart the weekend celebrations.

Edina Ronay recently introduced a range of velvet styles within her collection for autumn winter – not only dresses but skirts, pants and suits (think capri pants and smoking jackets) too. The velvet tuxedo has recently been seen on Man Repeller, hot on the heels of the splurge of velvet along the FW14 catwalks; Jason Wu, Sophie Theallet, Ellie Saab and Tadashi Shoji all featured the fabric in their collections. Ronay styles her velvet in a very delicate yet sumptuous fashion, it was the perfect style for dining at the Edition’s Berners Tavern and taking drinks at the delightful Punch Room.

(But you know, the real birthday celebrations haven’t yet begun…)
