Memorable Family Vacation #TMOM

Cruises mean relaxation, getting pampered and delicious, never ending food. One cruise I took stands out for me for emotional reasons, though. About 12 years ago, I took my two daughters on a Disney cruise. My mom came along too. It was a bonding experience, and a memorable family vacation.

My daughters are 12 years apart. Alicia is the older, Sammi, the younger. When I shared the news about my pregnancy, Alicia was thrilled to have a baby sister and that feeling continued even when there were late night cries, smelly diapers, and her friends fawning over Sammi. There was no jealousy to speak of.
Move ahead about 6 years. Alicia was living away from home, in college and dating someone seriously. We rarely saw her. Sammi missed her. We all missed her. There were no more family vacations with all of us. Until I had the idea about a cruise which fit into all of our schedules.
Together on the Disney Wonder
Sammi and Alicia were inseparable on the ship. They went swimming together, ate breakfast together, saw shows together and went on an excursion together. When we all sat down for dinner, their eyes lit up as they raved about what they had done. Their private jokes had them giggling. It was like they were whisked back in time and forging a future as well. This was one of the best family vacations ever.
Now as Alicia is an adult, married and with a baby of her own, Sammi and her still remain close. My heart leaps out of my chest when I see them together as they talk in whispers, cook together, and act as if they aren’t miles apart. I know that the cruise had a lot to do with their close relationship. And they still travel together…
