THINGS I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT

There are a few things I can’t ever have enough of, for example popcorn, I’m addicted. Or Jerk Chicken, my all time favorite dish. But of course, as a fashion obsessed young woman, there are some fashion items I cannot live without. No matter how many pairs, pieces, or items I already have in my wardrobe, there’s always room for something new, or different, especially when it’s on sale…

1. Shoes. When it comes to shoes I probably qualify as a hoarder. I comfort myself – and reduce my guilt – with the thought I’m not the only one out there… These Marni shoes have been on my wish list for quite some time now… The perfect brogue; classic, but with that Marni-twist.

2. Socks. What can I say, we all need socks. However, I hate that they ruin my outfit more often than that they compliment it. I have the feeling these glitter ones from Isabel Marant will proof otherwise. Shall I give it a try?

3. Bags. I go through phases where I wear one certain bag all the time. Recently it’s been my Gucci Soho bag, the Givenchy shopper, and the Chanel Boy. The Givenchy because it’s great to take my stuff with me to the office, and the Chanel and Gucci because they’re small but just the right size to bring everything I need, without carrying too much. If I would have written this piece a year ago, my favorite bag would have been my PS11 in forest green. I wore it literally every day, but at some point, I was done with it. I love it still, and it’s patiently waiting in its dust bag to be taken out again. I will, when the time is right. This little Saint Laurent patent cross-body seems right in so many ways, but most of all, I don’t have a patent bag yet, which makes it the perfect addition to my carefully curated collection…

4. Culottes. This type of pants is the best thing that happened to me past year. I’m thanking the gods of fashion for bringing these back. I wear them all the time. Heels, slipons, or knee-boots, every time they just hit the right spot. 1205 isn’t a brand I’m familiar with – are you? – but I’m happy to “get to know” them with this pair of culottes.

5. Jewelry. You know I like them either very delicate, or very statement. This double finger ring is pure art, as we know Valentino for. I’m very tempted, especially because it’s quite girlie, which would be awesome with a more rough winterlook – I think ranger boots, oversized parka, leather pants…

6. Statement tees. Basics like t-shirts you need plenty off, but I like to collect a few funny ones every now and then for when I swap my sweaters for cardi’s or blazers. With a little sentimental feeling towards London during the Holidays – great memories only – this one from Markus Lupfer seems so right!

7. Overcoats. Never enough coats, especially now I’m living in New York and I’m challenged to inspire you with outfits, while it’s freezing outside and therefore I’ll be much more limited in terms of looks… It will all come down to the right coat(s), for the perfect layering. You know my recent love for grays and pastels, hence this one from Studio Nicholson was an obvious choice.

8. Last but not least: Bikini’s. We are planning our holiday to somewhere warm. I haven’t worn a bikini since forever, in fact, I’m not even sure where I put my bikini’s when we moved from London to New York. Next to the great Seafolly ones, I have to add this one from Mara Hoffman. The print of 2014.
