I was recently interviewed for a column on the NY Daily Beast, regarding my thoughts on the trench. The editor, Sara asked, a few poignant questions of me, first – “what camp do I fall in” – the Llyod Dobler (I would say Céline is his fashion equivalent) or the classic, Burberry? (if you don’t know who Llyod Dobler is, google it).
That is a perplexing question as both looks are appealing to me and if I could make my dream trench, it would fall in both categories. I would require buttons. It is a rain cover, after all. Oversized in the right places, nipped in waist, and a classic beige color. As mentioned in the article, I say color is very important and must go with skin tone and hair color. I still don’t own a trench and on the hunt for the perfect one in the perfect price range. I would consider it an investment and would save up for a pretty special one. I found her, and she’s $9.000. If I pawned a bunch of my handbags and possibly my wedding ring…. but that’s not happening. Le sigh. Although I did find a few that will do the trick.
H&M $49.95/Zara Trench $159 /DKNY $695/Burberry $1500
Miranda Kerr’s trench paired with ripped jeans, leopard loafers, and a statement bag is the ultimate combination of the Lloyd vs. Burberry. A little edgy and wild, but the classic trench means she’s (he’s) a class act. Read more of the article here!
