framing vintage pieces (part 2)...

A few weeks ago, I shared a few vintage pieces that I wanted to frame and turn into wall art. Here's a look (above) at the pieces "before"...

After we decided to frame a couple scarves and the beaded obi, I pulled some art prints from my "to be framed" pile that felt like would work together with the vintage pieces. The two scarves and the obi were predominately pink, yellow, and orange, so I chose art prints that accented those colors for a fun, bright, citrus-inspired color scheme. I wanted to mix the frame colors and decided on accents of white, gold, and silver frames from Simply Framed after they sent me some photos of the frame options they had. I sent all the pieces to them, and they came back matted, framed, and ready to hang looking like this!

We laid them out on the floor first to figure out the general placement and how the pieces should sit together. I love the look of the long scarf as a vertical since it's so rare to have such a vertical piece of art like that. That scarf served as the focus and the others were placed around it balancing the colors and sizes of the art and the frames.

I love how the vintage pieces add extra depth and texture to the flat art prints. And, it finally gave me a use for all those vintage scarves and decorative pieces I've been collecting but never got around to wearing. Now, I can look at them and enjoy them as totally one-of-a-kind wall art...
