Bundle Monster Cabochons Swatches & Review

Some days, I have an itch to rock dramatic nails that are as over-the-top as Lady Gaga.

The friendly ‘monsters’ over at Bundle Monster sent me two blingy cabochons to try, and let me tell you, if you’re looking for nails that will set yourself apart from the sea of generic manicures, cabochons definitely do the trick!

The Bundle Monster Cabochons are the very first nail cabochons that I’ve ever sported, and I have to say, they’re pretty badass!

I felt totally edgy when I wore the cabochons over the jet black, OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy?!? from the Peanuts Collection, and I think they offer an interesting 3D effect that you just can’t get with other nail art. Plus the ease of cabochons are wonderful – just put a dab of top coat or nail glue to act as an adhesive, and you’re golden.

Sure, these are not typical for me to wear on a day-to-day basis. I see them as something for a special occasion. They’re such a far departure from everything else that I’ve tried, so I was curious to jump into this lake and swim around a bit.

(Please note that I had cut my nails pretty short, and my fingers and nails are narrow. On someone with average-sized fingers, the cabochons won’t look as big.)

Thought it would be interesting to show you the side view, so you could see just how big the cabochon is! Despite the size, it was lightweight, yet durable! Remember, my nails in this post are short because I cut them down to nubs and my fingers/nails are narrow. So, if you have average-sized nails, the cabochon won’t look as large on you.

Bundle Monster Cabochons Review

My Experience

Most people choose to accent their ring finger, but sometimes, I like to make my accent nail the middle finger. Haha, not that I flip the bird a lot or anything, but my middle finger is wider than my ‘candy-corn’ ring finger, so there’s more ‘canvas’ to work with.

I was really excited to try my very first cabochon, and it was easier to sport than I imagined. I thought it might be heavy or uncomfortable, but this one by Bundle Monster was lightweight, and it didn’t really get in the way of typing on the computer at work. I was really surprised!

To stick it on my nails (I used one on my left and right hands), all I did was paint on a thick glob of top coat to act as a glue, since I don’t own any nail adhesives. It worked like a charm, and the cabochon didn’t budge!

Removal

I’ll admit that I was nervous about the removal because I didn’t know what to expect.

Rest assured that if you just put some remover around the cabochon, it’ll eventually just lift off with a little pulling. There was no damage to my natural nails, which was a big relief!

Reuse

The cool thing I realized is that the cabochon can totally be reused a number of times! When I took it off in the method outlined above, it still looked great. So, that means you could use it again and again, giving you more bang for your buck, which is always a good thing!

Pros

  • Helps create dramatic nails
  • Easy to put on & remove
  • Durable (Can be reused)
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Not the most practical, since it IS 3D!

Final Verdict: 8/10

For a novelty, I thought using this was really fun, and I can see myself trying something similar again, if I want a dramatic manicure that isn’t just painted nail polish.

Do you wear intricate nail art with 3D decorations? What’s the most complicated manicure you’ve ever worn? Are you also a fan of Bundle Monster?
