CoverGirl Clean Glow Blush Roses | Swatch & Review

Great blushes are hard to come by in the drugstore, particularly with a matte finish. Recently, I’ve been testing out a matte blush from CoverGirl, Clean Glow Blusher 100 Roses. Similar to their Contouring Blush, it has three shades, a light pink, a medium neutral pink and a deeper rose shade.

Product claims

  • 3-in-1 multi-shade compact
  • Lightweight, blendable flush of color
  • Clean and natural look

How to apply

Begin with the contour, or darkest, shade in your palette and apply to the hollow space below your cheekbones. Apply the medium shade to the apples of your cheeks and sweep upwards toward the hairline. For a youthful glow, highlight the tops of your cheeks with the lightest shade.

I disregarded the instructions, swirled my brush into the product focusing first on the darkest shade in the compact. The results are above. It’s not a heavily pigmented product, but it’s fool proof and difficult to over apply. Roses is a nice understated blush for everyday or whenever you need a blusher that will no compete with a dramatic lip or eye.

I was impressed at how the blush showed up on my skin. I didn’t have high hopes after finger swatching the three shades in the compact; the two lighter shades looked too pale and the darkest hardly transferred to my finger. It’s one of those products that picks up best with the bristles of a brush.

Overall, I don’t find it to be the most outstanding product – but it’s adequate for everyday and anyone who is looking for natural looking matte blushes at a great price point.

What are your favorite bargain blushes?
