If you have been reading my blog for a while; you know I do not write about campaigns this often. I couldn’t help but be in awe with Marion Cortillard for Dior in Snapshot in LA. The styling of the video is simple, understated, and yet implacable and elegant.
Marion is depicted in a beautiful, minimal, glass house on the Californian country side with a stunning pool. She dances and defies gravity as she bounces off the water, it’s just amazing. Through singing, co-directing and writing, Marion Cotillard reveals a whole new facet of her personality (
Marion had previously worked with Edith Piaf in 2007’s La Vie en Rose, her voice still remains as captivating. This time she teamed up with Metronomy’s Joseph Mount and Villaine, which explains why the music in Dior’s advert is so captivating. It is the perfect marriage of old and new styles; there’s something classic and yet so modern about it.
The clip is so hypnotising that you forget that you are even watching an ad for Dior’s campaign. In the words of Perez Hilton, “It’s basically the sartorial version of Inception!”

She tosses aside a classic pair of pointed stilettos with a mesh or semi-transparent white trim and as she swims in the pool a black abstract patterned scarf that comes undone from her wrist. I couldn’t find either of the two online, yet.
Her makeup was simple: bright red lips, rosy blush and a defined upper lash line. My guess is that she wore Christian Dior Vernis 413 Grege on her nails or something similar. I wonder if they will release what the lip shade was.
