Pasadena is one of those places you hear about, but don't necessarily bother visiting. Perhaps because it sounds like a sleepy suburb, not as edgy as Silverlake or as culturally rich as Downtown. Let me tell you something: if you don't visit Pasadena, you are a fool. It is a lovely area, with amazing, giant mansions to ogle, a bustling high-street for shopping and a collection of great restaurants and coffee shops. And of course it is also the home of the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens which is a brilliant way to waste an afternoon getting lost in their Desert Garden while slowly melting in the delicious Californian heat.
