Night Jewel

I'm known for five things: music, Starbucks, collecting fragrances, having an insane amount of make-up and keeping lists. Lists are the only way for me to keep my life organized and somewhat under control because I used to be a mess when it comes to going through my staple of written notes from school, maybe that's the reason why my final report was such a disaster, ha ha. My absolute favourite has to be my wish list. I know that when I strike something off it, I fulfilled myself a wish I've had in the back of my mind for a long time and I regularly go over it to see whether I'm still seriously interested in all of the things I once wrote down. To be honest, though, most of them are related to make-up, if not all of them. The purchases I most struggle with address my big love for fragrances, though, because a decent perfume can cost a lot and that's why I go all out on perfumes whenever I travel - duty-free for life, baby. During my latest trip to Asia, I accumulated seven new additions for my collection, one of them being the ever-so wonderful Night Jewel Edt by Jill Stuart (50ml, 7350 yen).

The holiday coffret from 2010 contained a "Night Jewel"-scented pink powder puff I still treasure dearly because it was the only sample I had of the fragrance I've had laid my eyes on long before receiving the coffret, but at that time I had never purchased a fragrance online without trying it first. Nowadays, I welcome taking that risk and haven't been let down once so far.

I know a lot of people are upset by YouTubers reviewing candles or perfumes because describing scents online is probably the most difficult thing to do as a blogger/vlogger. There are a couple of amazing perfume bloggers out there, but despite their insanely well-written reviews, I can't even remotely imagine what a certain perfume would smell like in reality, so I won't even try to allure you with my poor attempt at delivering Night Jewel's notes of green tea, night-blooming jasmine, white rose, Turkish rose, vanilla, peach, wood and so on to you. Just let me assure you that it's a mature, sexy scent, not overly sweet yet powdery. Definitely a winter/spring kind of scent you shouldn't pair with a pair of stone-washed denim jeans and a loose fit cat print shirt. This perfume deserves your finest silver jewellery and chic attire.

The scent secretly lingers on your skin throughout the entire day even if it's prone to absorbing perfumes the minute you spray them on, like mine. You can get "Night Jewel" online pretty much anywhere and internet prices equal the price I paid at the Jill Stuart counter at Lumine 2 in Shinjuku, Tokyo anyway - minus the heart-warming customer service, of course.
