Bring it Home :: Martinique & Malachite, Oh My!

Bright whites, modern lines and an edgy touch may be my M.O., but there’s something about a powder room that emboldens me to make daring choices. I’m always tempted to paint the walls a glossy black, or wallpaper them with a loud print — choices I would never make in the rest of my home. And if there’s one print that packs a punch it has got to be the iconic Martinique Banana Leaf. As with all of my Bring it Home posts, I’m not here to convince you to wallpaper your walls (though if you do, please send photos!), but rather to find creative ways to satisfy your Martinique cravings – say, with a pair of fantastic pajamas. Banana leaf pajamas – As promised, these banana leaf print pajamas are guaranteed to make a weekend feel like summer vacation all over again.

Mask print – With such graphic wallpaper, you wouldn’t immediately think to layer more statement-making pieces on top, but our inspiration room shows us how it’s done. The black and white print make matching a touch easier.

Gold sconce – Silver or chrome finishes just wouldn’t look the same against the greens and mustard accents of the Martinique print. Gold on the other hand is a perfect fit.

Initial candle – These scented initial candles are the ultimate housewarming gift, or a fun way to treat yourself.

Malachite console – I’ve seen some very convincing DIY malachite painted furniture, but if you don’t want to take the risk then this table would look smashing in any room of the house.

Duck leg mirror – I always think it’s important to have a quirky touch in a room, so that it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

White towels - Soft white towels would look super luxurious rolled and stacked on the malachite console table, don’t you think?
