Interior Decoration Inspiration: black and white

Before my boyfriend and I moved in together last year, we started a Pinterest pinboard where we would randomly pin interior images we liked (I totally recommend doing this if you're about to move to a new place). Soon it became clear to us that we had more or less the same vision for our new place and that it involved a whole lot of black and white elements paired with wood and glass. Very gender neutral, timeless and versatile, if you ask me.
Below is a selection of images from our pinterest board that served us as inspiration.

Now how can you get the black and white look? I’ve compiled some things below I already own or plan on purchasing to further keep the monochrome vibe in my own apartment. Just like with clothes, I think it's more intriguing to mix more sophisticated and exclusive items with really simple and basic ones.

Pantone wall art canvas: Radiant Orchid may be Pantones's color of the year 2014, but in my book, "Black is (always) the new black". This cute little canvas is from the online shop isda, where you can find a selection of other Pantone colors and sizes as well, not just as wall art but also as chairs. If you're looking for special interior objects, furniture and lamps, it's worth to have a look on isda. I'm thinking about using this Pantone canvas to create a mixed media wall art. Maybe some other quotes and prints like the one pictured next to it, personal photographs in different shapes and sizes to add character to a place. We'll see how it turns out!
Vitra Eames plastic armchair RAR: This is currently on my wishlist, as I think it might look good next to a window in our bedroom and add to the cozy atmosphere I'm aiming in there.
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Chair: This beauty holds a very special place in our hearts and our open-plan living room. It's an investment piece but represents a very timeless, classic design.

Graphic Pillows: We have a black leather couch and I think graphic pillows in a contrasting color look really good on it. Pillows are a great and usually inexpensive way to add something new to your place and switch things up from time to time.

Block lamp: This is another item that I cherish in our living room. It illuminates the Vittsjö shelves we've chosen for an airy and industrial look (also you can't beat the price tag).

Scented candles: Even though we've opted for various light sources in the living room, nothing can replace (scented) candles. Diptyque has a great range of fragrances and I'm also very curious to try Byredo.
