All That Glitters

It’s so easy to look at things and people and assume what we see is reality. We treat celebrities like their lives are perfect, often trying to emulate them. We have friends who when asked how they are doing, say ok, and we leave it at that. We assume that because someone is smiling, everything is a okay in their life, but the truth is that’s not always the case.

One day, I was texting my blogger pal, Cathy of Minister of Style, and she asked me how I was doing. I told her I was fine (I really wasn’t), and she said “no really, how are you?” LOL According to social media, it can seem like all is great in my life, and she could’ve assumed I was truly fine, but I love that she took the moment to acknowledge that things were a bit more turquoise than gold in my life.

So many times in this fast paced life, we can be in such hurry going about life, that we don’t take the time to REALLY check on people, to go beyond the cover of the book. I’m thinking today is as good a day as any to start :-).
