Asher's 1st Birthday PARTY!

We picked the best theme for Asher's 1st birthday party...ASHER! We plastered pictures of his sweet face all over the place and served a little lunch featuring his favorite foods: macaroni and cheese, raspberries, blueberries, pears, and oranges.
^^These were the invitations that took me way to long to make and then I passed out to guests at the party because I only got around to mailing about three of them.
When planning his party, I envisioned bright colorful yet simple...and it turned at just as I hoped! That cute banner I found at Target for $3 really tied it all together, huh? I put dum-dums in the cupcakes, which ended up being quite the temptation for Adam. He tried to go under, over, and through that table to get one!
Asher got suuuuper fussy about 15 minutes before his party, so Nathan rocked him to sleep and held him for about 40 minutes while he took a little catnap. When he woke up, he was happy to find a house full of people and his favorite foods waiting for him. We kept the "guest list" small: just grandparents, aunts, uncles, and a handful of cousins, and one family of friends (the Grimmers, our Portland friends who also just graduated and got a chiropractic job in Washington). It was fun to have half the guest 3ft (and under) running all over the place!
And then it was time for the best part of a baby's first birthday.... BIRTHDAY CAKE!!! I'll let the pictures tell the story...
Oh gosh, just look at THAT FACE. He was such a little cutie patootie! I love the blue handprints all over the highchair, I love how he just planted his face right in there, and most of all, I love his sweet, satisfied smile. And yes, that is a real cake with chocolate and sugar (I learned my lesson from last time). Hooray! Here's to 100 more birthday cakes, Asher! Happy Birthday, baby boy!
