LUSH Launches Self-Preserving Line

As we all know, LUSH is committed to fresh, beautiful cosmetics. Just like the “fresh” foods in your fridge— they don’t last long— so preservatives have been necessary to maintain a reasonable shelf-life. However, after listening to customers’ concerns, they set out on a mission to formulate products that use little or no synthetic preservatives without having to alter the look and feel of their cult classics.

…and they did it!

This Fall, LUSH has introduced the Self-Preserving Ocean Salt ($21.95), Self-Preserving Dream Cream ($26.95) and Self-Preserving Mask of Magnaminty ($12.95), three products joining the rest of the self-preserving LUSH range (did you know over 70% of LUSH products are already self-preserving?). LUSH achieved their goal by rebalancing the product formulations— by decreasing the amount of water (and increasing other natural ingredients), the formulas discourage bacterial growth without containing any synthetic preservatives.

The new range sits next to the original formulas, so fear not if you’re a die-hard fan and don’t want anything changed— you can still get the original formulas.

A few cool facts on the new range…

The Self-Preserving Ocean Salt, a stimulating facial and body scrub, is now vegan-friendly. The Self-Preserving Dream Cream took over 97 tries to perfect, but now it’s better than ever with a higher olive oil content for a rich, luxurious texture. The Self-Preserving Mask of Magnaminty uses honey and clay for natural preservation (two ingredients which also work wonders on problem skin).

Way to go, LUSH!
