Review: Sephora VIP Pass Eyeshadow Palette

When I was given the opportunity to preview all of the amazing Sephora Holiday launches a few months ago, I was like a kid in a candy store. There were so many great brands, value sets and lustworthy giftables—but one thing that stood out to me that I didn’t want to go unnoticed was the Sephora VIP Pass Eyeshadow Palette ($12). Yeah, $12.

This little envelope-style eyeshadow palette is pretty basic, but don’t let that fool you—it is pretty darn awesome. The magnetic flaps open to reveal eight eyeshadows: four neutrals and four smokey shades. The textures vary, but most of them have some sort of shimmery or iridescence to them (only two of them are matte).

The ultra-slim packaging makes it awesome for travel or keeping in your purse—whether you need to pull together a soft and subtle daytime look, a sultry smokey eye or something in-between, this palette is able to help you out without taking up much more space than a cell phone.

What made me want to write about this palette the most was the fact the eyeshadows are actually amazing. Sephora’s own eyeshadows are usually a bit hit or miss, but this palette is a total bullseye. Each shade is beautifully pigmented, easy to work with and the shades are universally flattering.

Oh, and just to remind you again—it’s $12.

It would have been a total win if there was an interior mirror (because it’s already packaged so perfectly for makeup on-the-go) and if there was a light matte shade.

All in all though, I think it would make an excellent stocking stuffer (wow, I can’t believe I’m saying that already) or a smart purchase for your travel makeup bag or purse.
