Dr.Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm: Review + Swatches

I was in Sephora the other day when my eye caught a display of Dr.Jart BB Creams. I had never tried any products from this brand, and quickly looked up reviews on my phone to read the general beauty community consensus on them. I found that this line was highly raved about, so I decided to give the Premium Beauty Balm a try.

For starters, I was thrilled to have found a true Asian BB cream in a store like Sephora. Dr.Jart is a skincare brand based in Korea, developed by a dermatologist (and a team of 21 other dermatologists!) back in 2004.

The benefits of this beauty balm include firming moisture technology, anti-aging serum, SPF 45, and antioxidants. It is supposed to even out the skin tone while brightening, firming, and hydrating.

This product is comes in a tube with a pump applicator on the end.

The consistency and finish of this product is similar to other ("real") BB creams I've tried. It has a thick consistency that camouflages into the skin leaving a slightly dewy finish. The color works perfectly on my complexion-- it looks a bit dark in the photo below swatched on the underside of my forearm, but my face is a shade darker, as I think is the case for most people. Unfortunately, this product only comes in one color (as many Asian BB products do), so I would only recommend this for lighter complexions.

Here is a look at the Premium Beauty Balm on my skin. I'm wearing no other makeup except for a touch of concealer under my eyes. I am head over heels in love with this product! It has been my go-to everyday "foundation" these days, as it is perfectly light for summer and contains SPF 45. It evens out my complexion while staying invisible on my skin, and it even allows my summer freckles to show!

This product wears all day without fading, changing color, or getting oily anywhere on my face. I cannot say enough good things about this product... I give it an A .

One of my biggest frustrations in the makeup world these days is how frequently (and inaccurately) the term "BB" is slapped on products. "BB" is a huge trend right now, so every company is trying to formulate a product they can use that name on to drive sales. As a result, a lot of people have tried what they think are BB creams, when in fact they are tinted moisturizers in disguise. I've spoken to friends who have told me they don't like BB creams, and when I ask what they've used, they name a BB product from a popular brand here in the US that actually isn't a BB cream at all. Considering all of this, I'm thrilled that a real Asian BB cream is available in a popular cosmetics store here in the US!

The Dr.Jart Premium Beauty Balm retails for $39 (1.5 oz) and can be purchased through Sephora!

Have you tried any products from this line?
xx, Allison
