DIY Bead Pendant Necklace + Printable Gift Box

Here’s a question for ya — do you guys perfer to give gifts that you make, or that you buy? I suppose sometimes for me it depends. I only really love to give gifts that I make when I really love them, and I think the recipient will love them just as much. Soooo I’m pretty sure I’m in the safe zone with this little beaded pendant. If you have a gal pal (or if you just need a new necklace yoself!) it might just be the perfect little gift. And with this one, you can buy supplies just once and make a whole bunch of ‘em! Pop it in a cute little geometric gift box and you’ve got pretty killer homemade gifties for all your girlfriends. And by the by, I picked up all of my supplies (from beads to paper) at Michaels. One stop shopping, yo.

Materials

  • beads in different shapes and colors
  • thin gold chain
  • 2″ eye pins
  • needle nose jewelry pliers
  • thick cardstock
  • downloadable gift box template
  • scissors
  • double stick tape

Make Time: 30 Minutes

Start by stringing a few beads onto your eye pin. Use the needle nose pliers to curl the open end of the eye pin into a loop so that the beads stay on.

Cut some chain to the length that you’d like the necklace. Open the ring on one end using the pliers, loop the open ring through one end of the eye pin, and squeeze the ring closed again. Repeat on the other side.

Hey! The necklace is done!

To make the gift box, print out the downloadable template onto the back side of your cardstock. (Two boxes will print on each sheet.) Cut out along the solid lines and fold along the dotted lines.

Use a small piece of double stick tape to secure two sections of the box together. Leave the other sides untaped so that the gift box can be opened.

Pop the necklace inside with a little bit of padding and give it to your favorite person! I’m hereby totally into giving gifts in these little geometric boxes, by the way. So I guess any presents I give from now on have to be tiny. I think I’m okay with that. Happy making!
