How I Chose Lovely Indeed’s Name

Recently, I’ve been wanting to share more with you about the behind-the-scenes of Lovely Indeed. I feel like there’s so much more going on than what you see when you come to the blog, and I wanna let you in on some of the secrets. And after I thought about it, I realized there’s no better place to start than the beginning, so I thought I’d tell you how I chose the title. So here we go.

Immediately after Mr. Lovely proposed to me, I stuck my head into the wedding blog world and never came up for air. I had never really read blogs before and at first I didn’t quite get it, but I quickly realized that this world was made up of people like me! People who love beautiful things and who love sharing and who love connecting. So being the all-or-nothing girl that I am, I obviously decided to start a blog of my own.

Right away, I wanted the blog to be called The Lovely Life. It was in my head and it stuck. I’ve always felt like life is just such a lovely thing, and I’ve always kind of been about finding beauty in the world, and so I thought it was perfect. And of course, when I searched around, the domain name was taken. So was the Twitter handle. For a hot second I considered pursuing it and trying to buy the domain off of whoever had it, but that seemed silly. I mean, all I had to do was think up something that I loved as much.

So I brainstormed. For a few days I wrote down anything that came to mind, and I ran the lists past Mr. Lovely and my mom (who is great at that kind of stuff). Finally, one day I kind of asked myself the question, Isn’t life lovely? And my brain immediately answered, Lovely, Indeed! And boom. There it was.

And if you’ve been around here forever you might remember that I used to use that punctuation in the blog’s title. It was technically Lovely, Indeed! I got tired of that real fast. I mean, no one likes a title that seems like it’s shouting, right? So I took the punctuation away and trademarked that baby. (Yep, Lovely Indeed is a registered trademark. You gotta protect yo’ business.)

And that’s the end of that story! Do you have a blog? If you do, I’d love to hear how you chose the name. Do tell! xoxo
