{Book Club} The 3L’s Book Chit Chat Presents: The Host

Goodbye Red Room of Pain. Hello alien pod people!

Are you shocked that we are not doing “Fifty Shades Darker”? The reason why we are taking a mini break from the Fifty series is because “The Host” will be coming out on the big screen on March 29th. We would like to read the book before watching the movie. Of course we all know that the book is always better than the movie, but we’ll see if that’s the case here. I’m excited! I hope you read along with us. For all you Fifty fans, don’t worry, we’ll be going back to the series after “The Host” is over. Unlike our last book, we will be reading much slower. I anticipate, at the most, 5-6 chapters per week. Illusyon worked hard on the schedule and timed it, so that we end the book on the week the movie comes out! About the book:

“The Host” is a science fiction/romance novel (also known as paranormal romance) by Stephenie Meyer. The novel introduces an alien race called Souls, which takes over the Earth and it’s inhabitants. The book describes one Sou’s predicament when the mind of her human host refuses to cooperate with her take over. ”The Host” released on May 6, 2008. (Per Wikipedia)

My first impression:

I have no clue what this book is all about. I have no expectations whatsoever. I know this book has something about aliens taking over human bodies. I’m assuming there is some kind of romance since this is written by Twilight’s Stephenie Meyer. The only thing I’m expecting is some teen angst romance. I’m not too excited about read this book, because it’s so huge. I am, however, looking forward to comparing the book and movie against each other. That should be fun!
