Starry-eyed Tattoo

Tank - ebay Cardigan - thrifted Jeans - Mossimo, thrifted Flats - Naot
Cara mentioned in response to my 'uncertain style' comments that she always considered 'stars' to be a MMD thing. I agree. But finding stars in a distinctly non-Americana way is difficult! I do also love military-esque things, or things that make me think of space travel.
I won this tank off ebay for about $2. That's my other problem. I'm a notorious cheapskate.

If you're wondering why, it's because in the past year, I've gained a new hobby. Instead of saving up for ridiculous priced (but often very gorgeous) shoes, I've moved onto body art. I've got a great artist who I love to work with. I finally paid off my bills, and checked my savings. In celebration for job hunting (and interviewing), I set up an appointment with Jeff, my tattoo guy, gave him my inspirations and he went to it.

I've learned that trying to *control* every last minutiae of a tattoo is impossible. Instead, expect like any piece of art, to be a bit surprised. I didn't even bother looking, because I trust my tattooist, and gritted my teeth through the pain. I happily now have a start to my right arm sleeve. It's definitely going to be added on, but I was on a budget (and have a pain limit of 3 hours).

He also tossed in an extra little star onto my right shoulder to fill in the bit of space between my very first tattoo and the honeycomb.

But now, I have my own stars, my own little galaxy started on my arm. And it feels like me. It's non-traditional. It's organic and geometric at the same time.

I'm quite bruised (I always bruise), so no super close ups on it just yet, but here's a mirror picture!

All in all, I'm very happy. When I first started getting tattooed, I just wanted small things. But I found I fell in love with it. There's something cathartic and intriguing to me about the process. It is painful. It's not for everyone, but it's like a secondary level of getting dressed for me. I'm dressing my skin, decorating it, and in the process, falling in love with the way I look.
